Tweet, feed, push..
I just don't quite get the tweeting thing, feels a bit like stalking. However I checked out the RSS feeds and found this really useful. Although I am not working, I have a family and don't always have the time to keep up with all the developments on all the interesting library and information professional websites. I have set up some RSS feeds and found it very stimulating to read such a diversity of articles. Kept me reading until late into the night. It's also really useful to add a variety of feeds not only library ones, could be lots of late nights ahead.

Cogitating on my virtual image
Having read Week 3 'considering my brand' I have a lot to think about. I don't know about anybody else out there but it is big leap for me to start thing about myself as something to be marketed or branded. I am not sure what it is maybe it's the language that sounds so foreign. I could see myself marketing an event, a collection or a service but doing that we me, myself, I? Will have to think further on a suitable image for myself. I must say the temptation is to have some sort of wonderfully, sparkling, witty and erudite alter ego, but that might just be missing the point. There are also some really professional looking blogs out there, so I have a long way to go. Maybe by the 23rd thing.....

Blog tourist
I have checked around other blogs and it is really interesting to see all the comments and what people have to say, certainly makes you feel less alone with your thoughts. It is great to see a spread of participants from those who are confident in the use of social media to virgins like myself! I will follow some of the blogs with interest. I was also glad to get a positive and supportive comment as well, will keep me going...

Maiden voyage, first post!
This is the first time I have ever blogged. It does seem a little strange, and I am wondering who would be interested in actually reading this, but here goes. I have decided to be part of the cpd23 things programme, as I am currently unemployed. Due to the moratorium in the public sector, my contract was not renewed. I live in the West of Ireland (at the moment) and feel a bit cut of from the cut and thrust of the library world, so I thought this would be an interesting way of keeping up with developments. I am hoping it will introduce me to all the new and innovative developments in the information sphere. I have worked in a variety of libraries, from academic to specialist libraries. I am particularly interested in the move to provision of virtual libraries and digitization projects relating to special collections. I feel this will be a strong element of the information professional role in the future, and the onus is on me to upskill, so here I am!
